London-based singer-songwriter Olcay Bayır's music is a mixture of her own compositions and Anatolian folk songs in Kurdish, Turkish and Armenian. Drawing on her Kurdish Alevi roots, she sings songs that reflect her multicultural and multilingual background. Her music resonates with themes of survival, exile, love and longing.
Recipient of funding from HelpMusiciansUK, the Arts Council of England and Women Make Music.
Bayır was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Songlines Music Awards 2015 for her debut album "Neva - Harmony". Her second album "Rüya - Dream" charted in the European World Music Charts.
