Juli Deák
Juli Deák Bio
With over 15 years of musical experience, Deák's sound is deeply rooted in the classical tradition while embracing experimentation, improvisation and folk influences.
Her artistic work has for many years focused on the physical and expressive limits of the flute—exploring circular breathing, breath sounds, and singing while playing—which has led to her current solo project, The Breathing Project.
In her words, «I'm creating stillness in motion». For her artistic work, she has been awarded the Sverker och Birgittas Scholarship, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s National Scholarship, and the Anders Sandrew Scholarship.
With the previous shows on MENT, Norbergfestivalen and n:ear Festival this year Juli Deák will join Intonal Festival (Malmo), Kiezsalon (Berlin), Nonagon Festival (Svanö) with the extensive new album tour in Autumn.
