Adnan Joubran
Adnan Joubran Bio
Hailing from a family synonymous with the oud, renowned artist and composer Adnan Joubran presents a scintillating re-imagining of his work.
Shifting the emphasis of traditional and classical Palestinian music traditions, Joubran delves into his self-coined ‘neo-classical’ style, with a powerful performance to match. Elevating his compositions into vivid orchestral sounds, he takes influences from electronica, cinema soundtracks, jazz and spoken word, joining pioneering composers such as Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnolds in the genre. This dark instrumental, yet cinematic feel was brought to life in his debut album ‘Borders Behind’ in 2014, and has only grown more powerful with his unique way of centring the oud, and with it, reanimating the longstanding legacy of Arabic music on global stages.
The new show features Habib Meftah on percussion, voice, and electronic grooves, and Valentin Mussou on the cello synths and keyboards.
